Choirs

There are a number of opportunities for adults to become involved in the music ministry of our church. The Chancel Choir sings regularly at the 11:00 service. The music repertoire includes music from the classics to current composers. At special times during the year the choir performs larger works accompanied by orchestra. The summer Chautauqua series in August affords a time to perform Broadway show tunes and other secular music. The Christmas season is a real feast for sights, sounds, and culinary delights. For many years the Madrigal Singers and other choirs in the church present a three night production of a Madrigal Dinner and Yuletide Festival. This elaborate production involves over 200 church members.
In addition to opportunities for solo and ensemble vocal work, adults can also be involved in Handbell and/or Instrumental Ensembles. Handbells meet on a regular basis and instrumental groups meet as the need arises.
Youth have music opportunities at their regular vesper services each Sunday evening. As there is interest, youth have been involved in choir, ensembles, handbells, and sacred dance.
Children’s music is a part of our regular Wednesday night programming. We offer two choirs for children, Carol Choir  (age 2-1st grade) and Wesley Choir (2nd-5th grades). Karen Nance directs these choirs and is assisted by various adults. Each summer children are invited to participate in Musical Arts Downtown, a one week music and art day camp that was begun in our church over twenty-five years ago. The camp meets for one week during the summer on a rotating basis at the various downtown churches.
