Diana has been on staff for 23 years and is a fantastic representative of our congregation. She was certified as a
Karen Nance - Children's Choir Director Karen began her career in child care as a newlywed in 1971 in a Lutheran Church daycare in Dallas teaching kindergarten. This inner city church provided an opportunity to work with children of various cultural backgrounds. With a major in elementary education from Western Kentucky University (where she met her charming husband) Karen has had a life-long passion of nurturing and caring for children.
First Care began at our church in 1988. From a modest beginning the program now is licensed by the Commonwealth for 99 children and also participates in the STARS for KIDS NOW program. Karen has been an active member in the state coalition for child care since 1989. She is treasurer of the organization and chairs the annual spring conference in Louisville that draws over 500 participants.
Karen is active in the Frankfort community where she is a member and officer in the Garden Club of Frankfort. She has won several awards for her floral designs. She has served various leadership roles in the school organizations in which Amy and Adam have been students. Her culinary skills are enjoyed by many.
Music is an important part of her life. She enjoys singing in the Chancel Choir and leading the children’s choirs. As a cancer survivor, Karen gives and gives of her time and gifts to others. Karen's email is Knance401@aol.com
Julie holds a BS in Accounting Eastern Kentucky University and she passed her CPA exam in 1991. She has been working for our church (where she is a member) since 1999, and she is responsible for all financial reporting, payroll, tax filings, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. David Goins - Good News at Nine Worship Leader/ Interim Youth Director
![]() David Goins is the Good News at Nine Worship Leader at First Methodist Church where he and his family have been members since 2003. A native of Frankfort, his first contact with the First Methodist congregation came as a trumpeter at the annual madrigal event in 1988.
He is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and has served as band director at Franklin County High School and the Frankfort Christian Academy and as adjunct trumpet professor at Asbury University. He is currently completing a Master’s Degree in Music Education at the University of Kentucky.
As a professional trumpeter, David has performed in Europe and Asia and has performed in practically every concert hall in the Eastern half of the United States. He has performed with professional groups including the Louisville Orchestra, the Dimartino/Osland Jazz Orchestra, and the Temptations and has held the position of Principal cornetist and soloist with the Lexington Brass Band and Saxton’s Cornet Band. With Saxton’s Cornet Band, David has been featured on several albums as soloist and has performed with the band at presidential inaugurations, in cinematic movies, on international tours and music festivals across the United States. Most recently, David was the guest soloist with the Cleveland Pops Orchestra in a joint concert with Saxton’s Cornet Band.
David is happily married to his lovely wife Meredith with whom he shares a beautiful daughter, Ava and two handsome sons, Alex and Aaron. David’s email is davidfumc@fewpb.net.
