Volunteers in Mission

Our church is known throughout the Methodist connection for having a deep involvement in mission opportunities both locally and globally.  V.I.M. has been active in our church (with several opportunites done along with other local Methodist and non-Methodist churches), with over ten years commitment to mission work in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.  Eleven different groups have visited that country and we have established a special friendship with United Forces UMC, a church located in the poorest part of Tegucigalpa.  Along with Bible School and construction crews, we have established an ongoing medical clinic on the church property.  Physicians of every specialty have gone there not only to staff the clinic for short periods, but also to offer help Honduran doctors to offer medical services there as well.  We have also  sent three teams to Pass Christian, MS, a place that was hard hit by Hurricane Katrina. In the summer of 2008, we hosted  the National Honduran Consultation, which included Honduran ministers and their Bishop, along with pastors, missionaries, and church groups from all over the world who have an interest in ministering to that country through the work of VIM. In the last  few years we also sent a group of youth and adults to North Las Vegas, Nevada to work with Seguidores de Cristo Church, a mission church pastored by Jorge and Rosie Rodriguez. Jim Burris is our V.I.M. coordinator, and if you wish to contact Jim for more info, please call the church office (502-227-7430).
